Chances are, you know an AMAZING woman in your life.
Maybe it’s your mom or aunt or a teacher who had an unforgettable impact on your life.
Chances are, they are not famous.
One of my favorite benefits to starting Amazing Women In History in 2011 is that every so often, people write to me to tell me about these amazing women in their lives that SHOULD be famous, but aren’t yet.
Like 12 years ago, someone (I can’t even find the old email!) wrote to me about how wonderful a poet their professor Gay Allis Rose Clifford was and how it was so sad she wasn’t more well-known. And, wouldn’t you know, since I published that blog post, several people have commented who knew her about what an impact she had on their lives! I guess she was already famous for some—but I’m glad I could help to spread the word.
Recently, an author named Charles Evans reached out to me about an amazing woman more people should know about:
Valérie André is one of the great military aviators of the twentieth century—the first woman to fly a helicopter in combat and one of the first three helicopter medevac pilots.
Wow!
Her story is inspirational, and I’m glad Charles gave me the chance to share it with you.
